General Info:

The Velvet Room Dressing Room is an invite-only Dressing Room RP centered around the Persona series. Canon, AU, CRAU, and fandom OCs are permitted. Characters of any amount of screentime in-game are also welcomed, as long as they fit within the Persona setting (e.g. the girl crushing on Mitsuru, the kid from Kanji's Social Link, etc).

The OOC Community for non-RP chat, event and muse suggestions, and anything else OOC can be found here. Please join and intro yourself there! We also have a community Discord, which members can gain access to by PMing the mod account. Because we are invite only, membership to the main DR community is pending mod approval. Existing players who are not in the discord may submit their invites here. For any pressing mod concerns, you may contact us either in the Discord, PMs, or on a contact post here. Comments are screened for your privacy!

Setting:

The core of the Dressing Room world is the Velvet Room, with Igor at its centre. At the edges of the Velvet Room are doors, each of which leads to a familiar area; Mikage-cho, Sumaru, Tatsumi Port Island, Inaba, Tokyo. But these places aren't as one might remember them... In many ways, they're almost as if they're someone's idea of what they should be like, with the distance separating areas within them nowhere near as long or time consuming as they should be, and access to the Metaverse far easier than it should be. Be careful going near TV sets, or taking a wrong turn in the subway - you might end up in the wrong place. And be careful staying out too late, as you don't want to get caught by the Dark Hour...

Added to that, if you reach the edge of town, somehow you'll just find yourself walking back in again.

But not to worry! There's plenty to do, plenty of people, and there's no harm in your stay being longer than you'd expect. And even if your phone doesn't seem to be working (it always seems to be stuck on the Metanav app, even if you've never seen it before), there does at least seem to be a chat and call function.

Assuming you already have a phone, that is. If you don't, there's always the shops that don't seem to expect any money, which is always handy if you came in with only what was on your person.

As for where to sleep? Well, if you find yourself in the Iwatodai dorms, suddenly there seem to be far more doors than usual. And if you go 'home,' then somewhere like Leblanc might now be able to house more than three or so tables when needed, but it may also have more than one version of the attic, too, so "your" home is never too far away!

Rules/Guidelines:

Here are the overall rules to keep in mind while playing with us. These are subject to additions/clarifications and may be updated in the future.

Player Conduct:

Keep in mind that this is an invite-only Dressing Room. We have a monthly cap of six new members, and existing members may claim a single invitation every 14 days after they have been a part of our community for a week. As the community grows, we may adjust the monthly cap accordingly, but gradual growth is easier for us as mods and for our small playerbase to get acquainted with others.

Players may submit invites to us via our Discord or here on our journal. We will update the mod journal post to keep track of how many invites have been used/if the player cap for the month has been hit.

Please respect players' preferences in ships, headcanons, and generally be kind to each other. On that note, do not push your preferred interpretations on other players whose take on the character may differ from yours, whether it be name preferences for the protagonists, story route/ending, or specific headcanons (e.g. Futaba and Goro siblings, Joker from Inaba, etc).

Players are welcome to create a How's My Driving? post on their journal if they wish to get feedback on their RPing, but barring extreme cases (e.g. racist or transphobic headcanons), we are generally lax. We encourage players to create info posts about their muses if they are an AU character or OC or otherwise divergent from canon in some way via headcanons, just so players can learn about your iteration of the character.

We also recommend having a permissions post on your journal. You can find an example here, though this is not mandatory and you can format it any way you see fit.

IC =/= OOC. A character's actions and feelings toward your own character does not mean that the player feels the same way. Additionally, knowledge you the player know OOC should not carry over to your character unless they also happen to know it ICly. Lastly, your OOC feelings toward a player should not bleed into your portrayal. You do not have to RP with every character, and it is perfectly okay to ask not to be tagged by a given character/player. Personal friction should be dealt with in private unless it has escalated and requires mod involvement.

No godmoding or metagaming. Abilities such as mind reading or similar abilities should be communicated clearly with involved parties. A post where players can opt in to these abilities is welcome and encouraged. This can also apply to a character like Dr. Maruki, whose actualization may be something certain players may wish to explore. In general, player consent is extremely important, so try to communicate with each other and make sure everyone involved is on the same page.

If you have complaints about players that cannot be resolved peacefully, you can reach us on our mod contact post. It is important to bring up these issues as we are not mind readers and cannot address problems we are not privy to. We strongly discourage taking community matters to social media, as we as mods can only take appropriate action if we are informed directly.

Keep your outside drama at the door. If there is a matter you feel we as mods should know about (e.g. problem players in the DWRP community with receipts), use the mod contact post. Gossip on anoncomms does not count as receipts and any report must have have more tangible proof so that we can make informed decisions.

Dressing Room Guidelines:

The Dressing Room itself is SFW, but you may play 18+ scenarios on your characters' journals. Make sure to age lock the posts and make it clear that it is NSFW so that players lurking know what they're getting into. You are also welcome to make 18+ posts more secure (e.g. limited viewing to access list) if you wish, for added privacy.

The Persona series delves into dark topics on the regular, but we strongly encourage content warning in subject lines if you feel as though a thread is delving into especially sensitive subjects. For newer games, you can also use subject lines to warn for spoilers, and spoiler permission posts are greatly advised.

With new releases, we have a general six week grace period before new characters from these titles (e.g. Toshiro, Erina in Tactica) can be introduced. With remakes such as Persona 3 Reload, new material that wasn't in the original game MUST be warned for if you wish to incorporate it into your RP, as not everyone completes these games at the same pace.

We are open to brackets and prose RP. Pick whatever's comfortable for you. You are also welcome to create an IC inbox for your character's phone and text messaging.

Please tag your posts with the corresponding character tag! If your character does not have an existing tag, you may add one. For characters who have multiple names, we suggest tags be formatted like so: joker/akira/ren, makoto yuki/minato arisato, souji seta/yu narukami. This is to avoid duplicate tags for the same character.

Please understand that character abilities may be nerfed if they are final boss levels of powerful. For instance, a Third Semester Dr. Maruki would not be able to alter reality, and any actualization would require player consent.

Accounts utilizing more than one character are allowed within reason, e.g. Caroline and Justine. Just make sure to communicate which character is acting when so as not to confuse players.
